Body, Energy & Soul Care

“You’re being asked to trust in something bigger than you.
Not in what’s already been done,
Not in outside expectations,
Not in what you can predict with your limited perception,
But rather,
In the Greater Force of Life.
Life is made of consciousness.
It has intent.
It can see further than you.
It can orchestrate possibilities you can’t see.
So, where is your control?
It’s in believing in yourself.
It’s in holding boundaries that keep you from spinning out.
It’s in knowing you have the ability to heal.
It’s in being willing to walk into the unfolding unknown.
There is no need to fall into
Apathy because everything feels far away;
Fear because you can’t see how everything will play out;
Anxiety because circumstances are not as you dictate them.
Just be here, right now.
Open up so that you don’t shut down.
Let this process continue doing what it needs to.”

As we endure storm and heat in these dog days of summer, the leaves on some trees and bushes are turning from green to gold to orange. Nature is moving with her rhythm, heralding the change of season already upon us. Crops are harvested and the Pagan holiday Lammas/Lughnasadh is celebrated on August 1st. The latest eclipse passage closes with the New Leo Moon on July 31st, and this side-winding time ends. Even Mercury, the misunderstood trickster goes direct the same day, giving us forward motion and an energetic push into clearer sight. Look back over the last two months to see how the tides have turned you. Have you changed focus, letting go of something you never dreamed you would (but perhaps subconsciously longed to)? More significantly, have you uncovered long-standing karmic or ancestral bonds that seemed to evaporate with their unveiling? Or maybe you are still in the throes of disruption and un-footing. Fear not, for all things come full-circle, and even as we’re aflame in Leo Lion’s fire, Mother Earth Virgo waits to set us back on the ground.

In addition to these events, Jupiter and Uranus both change direction stationing on August 11th with effects felt in the surrounding weeks. Jupiter will go direct, bringing optimism and hope, while Uranus goes retrograde. As astrologer Pam Younghans writes:

“Jupiter, as the largest known planet in our solar system, magnifies whatever it touches. Essentially, we might see Jupiter as our cosmic cheerleader, encouraging us to take risks, to expand, to explore. Unique Uranus is the great liberator and initiator of change–especially the type of change that will help us live more authentic lives. When we work with Uranus, we work with the unknown, the unexpected, the unpredictable.”

Many of you have struggled through this chaotic eclipse passage; facing death, loss, significant change, and increased fear and anxiety. These energy surges are disruptive even when the force itself is neutral, not personal or individualized, but something we all are navigating. Medical intuitive, teacher, and writer Caroline Myss is conducting an upcoming workshop on the increased sensitivity and intuition we are all experiencing. In her introduction to this workshop, The View From Your Soul, she writes:

“You are not imagining that you are more sensitive to the world around you, more inclined to need quiet time, more attuned to the emotions of others, more perceptive about the difference between what you see and what you sense. You, along with all the rest of us, are transitioning to a more expansive level of awareness in which your inner sight is becoming dominant over what you physically hear and see. Another way to say this is that we are evolving our intuitive/spiritual intelligence.”

And while some identify these phenomena as a gift, the cosmic forces are universal and impersonal and, as Caroline states, point more to evolutionary change and global awakening.

As with all significant upgrade and renovation, first, there is the destructive phase. Faulty wiring, unstable structure, and condemnable dwellings are uncovered and torn down. As challenging as these reveals are, they are also necessary. As Carl Jung said,

“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light but by making the darkness conscious.”

And so, we continue to watch while our communities, our nations, and the world polarizes. Last night I watched a news program, following the latest shooting at a festival in California, that instructed students on strategically running from a shooter. How to split up to decrease target size, and to listen for silence (a sign the shooter is reloading) as an opportunity to run further away in the seconds in-between rounds. While not denying the horror of these events, the mystical laws are a perennial source of guidance, strength, and often comfort. The Law of Balance is especially helpful and states that for all acts of darkness, there is equal light. And that, ultimately, the rise of so many humanitarian and spiritual movements is a direct response, both intentional and divinely orchestrated, to all that is menacing. Indeed, out of the darkest times have come the most magnificent spiritual treasures. St. John of the Cross (Dark Night of the Soul) and St. Teresa of Avilla (The Interior Castle), in response to interrogation and imprisonment during the Spanish Inquisition, lifted their hearts to heaven and brought forth God’s grace.

And so, in our troubled times, let us remember that God is present in all things. In the weather and the cosmos and the rhythm of planets. The natural forces are allies and their power is our power too. May they inform and ignite the flame of life within you, and may you move with them in your own divine dance.

Body, Energy & Soul Care is the product of twenty-five years working in mental health and healing. The foundation of all my work is spiritual, the goal transcendent, the medium a combination of energy and bodywork and sacred teaching. Interwoven is my relationship with the natural and invisible world which I see as a physical manifestation of God’s presence and a live and interactive force available for support, guidance, and wisdom. In between my mental health years and massage therapy, I spent a decade working with horses and know what it means to work to the bone in all weather, to live in-tune and necessity with the seasons, and to embrace the natural circle of life which includes death both accidental and devastating and ultimately miraculous and healing.

What are Flower Essences ?

Flower essences are herbal infusions or decoctions, made from the flowering part of the plant, which uniquely address emotional and mental aspects of wellness. The first 38 flower remedies were formulated by a British physician, Dr. Edward Bach, in the 1930’s, although new remedies from other plant species are now available. To understand how flower essences work requires a recognition that the human being is more than a physical body, but also incorporates a “body” of life energy, a “body” of sensitivity and feelings, and a spiritual essence or Self. Flower essences are energetic imprints of the life force of plants which interact with these subtle bodies of the human being, and evoke specific qualities within us.
